Can we just say, this is going to be fantastic... What are we hooting our traps off about now? This: 14 of the region’s leading independent club promoters coming together for Independence. And just what is Independence then? This: a 12-hour mini-festival from the cream of the north-east’s underground dance scene which is being held at a secret green field site location south of Newcastle. Running on Saturday July 5, 2pm-2am – and spread across five arenas.

The promoters involved include: Detox, Error, Hooked, Freaky Dancing, Backlash, Energy Flash, Rollies For Mice, Habit, Ward 10, Made In Music, Elements, Beat Therapy, Sketchy Munters & The Conscious Monkeys. Blimey. You can expect to hear genres running the full gamut: energy, trance, psy & techno, old skool rave, beats, breaks, breakcore, gabba, drum & bass and dub step. Naturally there’s a huge array of talent lined up including K90 (Live PA), Jon O’bir (Godskitchen), Paul Glazby (Vicious Circle), Rodi Style (Best Newcomer - Hard Dance Awards 2008), Ed Real (Riot Dance Valley), Lucy Fur (Cyberkitten) and a whole host more including nearly 60 DJ's!
